Acupuncture
Stimulating the body's energy flow to promote healing.
Acupuncture Therapy has been practiced
in China for 2,000 years. It's a form of Traditional
Chinese Medicine based on the understanding
that our body's motivating energy force or Qi
(pronounced chi) moves through a network of channels,
or meridians, that run beneath the
skin. Illness arises from blockages in the energy flow.
Acupuncture Therapists insert fine,
sterile needles at various Qi points
on the meridians to rebalance and unblock the body's
energy.
Acupuncture Therapy is a safe and effective
treatment for everyone. It's often used for pain relief
and to help people overcome addictions. It's also beneficial
for many conditions including arthritis, circulatory
problems, infertility, menstrual problems, migraines
and skin disorders. Generally, it can be used to strengthen
the constitution and prevent illness.
Dr Jiang, the acupuncturist will ask
for a full case history and list of symptoms, take the
pulse of your energy flow and look at your tongue. Tongue
diagnosis is extremely important in Traditional
Chinese Medicine, this diagnosis method have
been used in China for 3,000 years. He'll then decide
which Qi points and meridians
to work on. Dr Jiang will show you Acupuncture
Meridian Charts during your appointment, which
you may find interesting.
He can read these Acupuncture Meridian Charts
to you and show you from the Acupuncture Meridian
Charts which Qi Meridians
are blocked, where these Qi Meridians
run from referring to the Acupuncture Meridian
Charts and explain what each meridian does.
He can also explain how the blockage manifests as symptoms
and what effect this has on you. During Acupuncture
may feel a tingling or dull aching sensation when the
needles are inserted into your skin. Sometimes two or
three acupuncture treatments will be
enough, though more often you'll need a series of acupuncture
sessions over several months.
